Day 1 NJP to Gangtok
Pick up from Bagdogra/NJP and head towards the Land of the Pristine and unspoilt natural beauty, Sikkim.
Check in at Gangtok (5500 Ft) hotel. Enjoy your leisure hours with a walk through the Mall.
Overnight at Gangtok.
Day 2 Gangtok excursion To Tsomgo Lake & Baba Mandir
After breakfast proceed for excursion to Tsongmo Lake (12,210 Ft), a 40 km drive which takes about 2.5 hrs. This lake is located very close to Nathula Pass which is the entry point to China & remains frozen for most part of the year. Relax and relish the surroundings, majestic snowy peaks which feed the lake and the clean fresh air. Thereafter, visit Baba Mandir (New), a memorial in the name of Baba Harbhajan Singh. Back to Gangtok . Rest of the day is free for leisure. Overnight at Gangtok
Day 3 Gangtok To Lachen
Pick-up from the Bajra Taxi Stand at Gangtok at about 10 a.m. and start for Lachen.
On the way stop for sightseeing spots like Tashi View Point, Kabi Lungtsok, Naga Waterfall, the Confluence of Lachen Chu & Lachung Chu at Chungthang.Lunch will be served at Namok. The whole journey is about 6-7 hours’ drive.
By evening reach Lachen and your trip for the first day ends.
Lachen is a remote village in North Sikkim and the winter home for Tibetan nomadic tribes against the backdrop of towering snow peaks, alpine flower valleys, and vast plateau. This is the base for exploring the high altitude Gurudongmar Lake and trekking to Green Lake (Depending upon prior permission).Check in at a hotel/Lodge. Overnight stay will be at Lachen.
Day 4 Lachen to Lachung . Excursion To Yumthang Valley excursion and overnight at Lachung
Have early breakfast (At times Packed breakfast) and leave for Thangu Village (4100m / 13450ft), a remote high altitude village of Tibetan Nomads & Chopta Valley on your way to the Gurudongmar Lake.
Thangu valley occupies a very broad valley at the junction of Thangu Chu, Chopta Chu, & Lassur Chu. It is situated at an altitude of 14000ft..
From Chopta Valley drive for another 30kms in 1.5hr to Gurudongmar Lake (5225m / 17143ft) close to Tibet Border. This lake is the Second highest lake in India after the Tso Lhamu Lake. If weather permits and permission is availed, proceed for Gurudongmar Lake (17,800 ft).
Transfer from Lachen to Lachung. After lunch, leave for Yumthang (11,800 ft.), the “Valley of flowers”.
You will be driving across the Shingba Rhododendrom Sanctuary which has more than 120 species of Rhododendron trees and is also the home to the endemic Rhododendron Niveum, the State Tree of Sikkim to reach Yumthang Valley.
Yumthang is a lush green valley with herds of Yak grazing around and surrounded by snow peaks on all sides. In April / May / June the valley erupts in a riot of colours as Rhododendrons, Primulae and many other Alpine Flowers are in full bloom.
In the winter, Yumthang is sombre with snow all around, and the snow clad mountains add to the ethereal beauty of this place.
On the way back, you may visit the hot spring across the Lachung River, although it is mainly used for bathing purposes by the army personnel.
Return to Lachung for lunch. Enjoy the day at leisure. Overnight at Lachung
Day 5 Lachung to Gangtok
After breakfast proceed After lunch leave for Gangtok. On the way, stop in between at Singhik and Mangan and if the weather is clear you may get to see the Khangchendzonga Range. Mangan offers a majestic view of Mt. Pandim, Mt. Kabru, Mt. Simvo, Mt. Jopuno, Mt. Khangchendzonga and Mt. Siniolchu. Overnight at Gangtok
Day 6 Gangtok To Darjeeling. Overnight stay at Darjeeling.
After Breakfast, we set off for half day local sightseeing of Gangtok covering Shanti View Point, Do-Drul Chorten, Research Institute of Tibetology, Directorate of Handicraft & Handloom and Flower Show.
The Do-Drul Chorten (Stupa) is one of the most important stupas of Sikkim and is built by the head of the Nyingma order- Trullshi Rimpoche in 1945. It contains rare details of Dorji Phupa, Holy Books, Mantras and is encircled by 108 prayer wheels.
The Namgyal Institute of Tibetology built in 1958 in traditional style, a renowned worldwide centre for the study of the Mahayana Buddhist philosophy & religion, a treasure house of rare Thankas, statues, over 200 Buddhist icons and prized objects of art. Thereafter transfer to Darjeeling. Overnight at Darjeeling.
Day 7 Darjeeling Local Sightseeing
Early Morning at 0400 AM visit Tiger Hill ,famous for sunrise over Mt. Kanchendzonga,on way back visit Ghoom Monastery, Batasia Loop and back to hotel. After breakfast proceed for visit 7 points ,covering The Himalayan Mountaineering Institute & PNZ Zoological Park ( both closed on Thursday) Tenzing Rock, Tibetan self Help Refuge Centre (closed on Sunday), Tea Garden (outer view), Japanese Temple, Peace Pagoda & Ropeway ( operational ,ropeway ride ticket to be paid by guest directly) . Overnight stay at hotel.
Day 8 Darjeeling to Mirik Excursion
After breakfast, leave for Mirik excursion and Pashupati Market.
Day 8 Darjeeling to NJP / Bagdogra
After breakfast, leave for your onward journey to NJP / Bagdogra.
